Holly started off by making and designing custom pageant attire for her own daughter and then started sewing for friends and other pageant moms as well, simply by word of mouth referrals.
In 2001, Holly decided to launch her business & started DESIGNS BY HOLLY. From day one, the business has taken off like gangbusters, and she has been very busy creating custom children's pageant attire for children throughout the country.
What makes DESIGNS BY HOLLY different? DBH dress bodices are superstretch lined with superstretch (unlike many seamstress who do not line their bodices, or if they do line it, they use inferior fabrics). This gives your bodice strength & is better quality! DBH skirts are very full southern cupcakey style skirts with a scalloped fishline hem, generally made with top quality fabrics with two layers of lining with very full organza ruffles underneath. This makes the skirts very full! DBH skirts are well made and very full & beautiful!! All DBH dresses are 2pc dresses except for the babydoll style dresses. Inner seams are serged. Holly works hard to do top quality work, produce a competitive high quality outfit and get the fit just right! Holly purchases beautiful & expensive quality bridal laces, venice laces and quality trims and fabrics. Holly gets so many compliments on the gorgeous laces and detail work on DBH dresses. In additional, DBH uses quality Swarovski rhinestones for maximum sparkle & shine. To help get a perfect fit, each outfit is made to the child's own measurements which you provide. Holly will leave let out room whenever possible also!! Outfits are not made to a "standard sizing" but to your child's own measurements. This ensures a great fit!! In addition, Holly owns over 2 dozen dress forms (like little mannequins) in varying sizes and uses this to get the draping & fit as correct as possible. Many seamstresses do not have dress forms for babies or toddlers. This is one reason why DBH outfits fit your babies & toddlers so well!!! Unlike many other designers/seamstresses, DESIGNS BY HOLLY specializes in babies, toddlers and little girls up to about a size 4T-5T. This is Holly's specialty!!
